Located on the northeast coast of Spain, Barcelona is a vibrant city known for its unique architecture, such as La Familia Sagrada and Parc Guell, works by Antoni Gaudi. Having had the pleasure of spending a few days here, we would like to share our experience!

Because we were visiting Spain with a child, we wanted to ensure we were smart with how we packed, so we wouldn’t have to lug around too much baggage. We carried light onto the airplane and checked in two suitcases. We made sure to take the gb Pockit+ All-Terrain stroller!

Important Tip

If you plan on traveling to Spain, try to purchase tickets to your attractions of choice ahead of time. A lot of these places tend to sell out the day of.

Getting around

We utilized the metro system heavily in Barcelona. You are able to pay with a Visa/debit card when boarding. Note: Children under 4 do not pay fares. There is Uber available in some areas, but you’ll find that there are definitely more riders utilizing FREE NOW.

Where to stay?

There are so many chic hotels in the area. We stayed at Ibis Styles Barcelona City Bogatell located at Carrer de Llull, 71, 08005 Barcelona, Spain. The location was convenient for us, and they had breakfast every morning from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Overall, it was comfy, the area felt safe, and I recommend this location for families.

Let’s talk food!

You won’t be disappointed in Barcelona, as there is a variety of different kinds of restaurants available to eat at here. On our first night, we had an incredible experience at an Arabian restaurant, Al Arabiya, located at Carrer dels Escudellers, 25, 08002 Barcelona, Spain.

That platter was enough to feed 2-3 people, and this was definitely my favorite restaurant to eat at during our stay.

We also enjoyed a Tapas-style restaurant, Jamon y Vino, nearby La Sagrada Familia (a great stop after visiting!) located at C/ de Sardenya, 310, 08013 Barcelona, Spain.

Explore La Boqueria: Barcelona's Vibrant Public Market

Amidst the bustling stalls, you can find a vast assortment of delectable goods. From plump, glistening fruits, meticulously stacked in towering pyramids of vibrant hues, to overflowing crates brimming with the finest vegetables cultivated in nearby fertile lands - every ingredient is a testament to the region's dedication to gastronomy.
The market's charm lies not only in its fresh produce but also in its sprawling array of specialty shops. Nestled within the market's fabric are stalls dedicated to artisanal cheeses, cured meats, aromatic spices, and tantalizing sweets. Park Güell: Enchanting and Whimsical

Nestled in the vibrant city of Barcelona lies Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that captivates visitors. Created by the artistic genius Antoni Gaudí, this urban park is a true testament to his extraordinary imagination and architectural prowess.
Step into a world where nature seamlessly merges with art, as Park Güell showcases Gaudí's signature organic shapes, mosaic-covered sculptures, and colorful tile work. Wander through the winding pathways bordered by vibrant flowers and lush greenery, and marvel at the breathtaking views of the city below.
The icon of Park Güell, the famous dragon-like salamander, lures visitors into the enchanting and iconic staircase that lies at the heart of the park. While the park was still well worth the visit, I recommend you skip this location if you’re traveling with small children, as there are a number of steps to take throughout the park.

Barcelona captivated us with its unique charm and undeniable allure. Barcelona's love affair with art left us inspired and wanting more. Barcelona is a city that captivates your senses and leaves an indelible mark on your soul.
